“Today is Your day. YOUR mountain is waiting. So… get on your way!”
-Dr. Suess
We had a wonderful trip to the mountains today with Sandra and her daughter Vale! We had an absolutely gorgeous day to go too (sunny, warm and wonderful), so that made the experience that much more spectacular. We swam in pools that were filled with hot spring water, which was very soothing, but at the same time a little bit smelly. To be honest though, I like the smell of sulfur because it reminds me of Yellowstone. Anyway, it was very nice to sit in the pools for a while and, because we got there early, there were very few people there. However, it was a little weird to be in a swimsuit in 50 degree weather, with snow still on the ground, and be completely comfortable! It was an interesting experience!
Afterward we had a picnic in Valle Hermosa and it too was very nice. Evidently, when you have a picnic in Chile, I learned today that hard boiled eggs are essential hehe. The area where we decided to have our feast (I call it that because we had a ton of food!) was in a very wooded, secluded place and we were the only people there! It reminded me of Michigan because of the wonderful smell of the pine trees :-) We went for a short hike up one of the ridges after we ate and it has made me want to get up in the mountains even more! I cant wait to go hiking and experience more of the natural world here in Chile! Its simply gorgeous.
We are all leaving for Vilches in the morning and I am so excited! Plus, Friday is Independence day so that should be a lot of fun! Then, Saturday is my birthday :-) I keep forgetting about that and it doesnt actually seem like its suppose to be my birthday in a few days. Its my first birthday abroad though so I am excited either way, yay!
